STEEL & BOOKS
My studio was two blocks from a casting foundry, where crucibles glowed red against the night sky. Because of this experience, seeing molten steel recast into something new and useful, I always think of steel as alive, not static. These pieces play hard against soft, steel against twill tape, bluing against organza. The books I found discarded, yet still beautiful. They needed honoring, their titles providing the direction for each piece.
